These koi have been handpicked with the show ring in mind. Every fish meets the standard for major Japanese koi shows, including the All Japan Koi Show, All Japan Young Koi Show, International Junior Koi Show, and the WNC Koi Show. They’re bred to compete, and it shows in the quality. All koi listed here will remain in Japan. Full terms and conditions are explained in each product description.
Selection is focused on the fundamentals that hold up under judging. Body conformation is a priority, with fish chosen for frame, proportion, and the ability to carry volume as they develop. Skin quality is assessed for clarity and depth, ensuring colour holds under different light conditions and continues to improve with growth.
Pattern is considered in the context of the body, not in isolation. Each koi is selected for balance and flow, with placement that will strengthen as the fish matures rather than break down. Sumi quality and development potential are also key factors, particularly for varieties where progression is part of the judging criteria.
These are not over-selected for short-term finish. The focus is on koi that will perform over time, both in Japan and in competition environments. Stock is sourced from breeders with a track record of producing show-level fish, ensuring consistency across the category.
