Doitsu Showa carry the same powerful black, red, and white patterning as a standard Showa, but without the scaling. The result is a bolder, cleaner finish that puts the full pattern on show with nothing to soften it.
The scaleless skin raises the bar for selection. Any inconsistency in colour or skin quality is immediately visible, so only koi with strong, clean presentation across all three colours are included.
Sumi quality is a priority. The black must be deep and stable, with good placement from head to tail. In Doitsu, the sumi often appears more dramatic without scaling to break it up, which can work well but needs to be well-controlled.
Hi is assessed for strength and edge definition, ensuring it holds cleanly against both the white and the black. Shiroji is checked for purity, as any marking or imperfection on the white skin stands out without the texture of scales.
Body conformation is selected to support long-term development, ensuring the fish maintains its presence as it grows.
This is a selection focused on strength and clarity, offering Doitsu Showa that carry real impact in the pond.
