Kanno Koi for Sale

Kanno is a well-respected Niigata breeder known primarily for Showa. The farm has a reputation for producing fish with strong, deep sumi and bold patterning that develops well with age. Showa from Kanno tend to carry serious presence, and the bloodlines have produced results at the highest level of Japanese koi showing.

Selection from Kanno is focused on sumi quality above all else. We prioritise fish where the black is stable, well-placed, and showing the early signs of the development the farm is known for. Hi is assessed for strength and balance against the sumi, ensuring the pattern holds together as the fish matures.

Shiroji is checked for clarity, with preference given to koi where the white areas remain clean and well-defined rather than becoming lost as sumi develops.

Body conformation is a key part of selection, with Kanno fish often carrying strong, thick bodies that support long-term growth.
