The scaleless finish puts greater emphasis on precision, so selection is tight. We prioritise koi with strong shiroji, clean hi, and controlled sumi placement, ensuring all three colours sit clearly without bleeding or overlap.

Pattern balance is assessed across the full body. Preference is given to fish where the hi carries the structure, supported by sumi that enhances rather than dominates. This creates a more stable look as the koi develops.
