Shiro Utsuri Koi for Sale

Shiro Utsuri are black koi with bold white markings. They're part of the Utsurimono group and share that powerful, high-contrast look. Fewer colours than Showa or Sanke, but that's the point. When it's done right, it's one of the most striking koi you can own.

Selection is focused on the balance between sumi and shiroji. Both need to carry equal weight across the body. Koi where one colour dominates rarely improve with age, so the focus is on fish where the two sit in a genuine partnership.

Sumi quality is a key factor. We prioritise koi with deep, stable black that sits cleanly on the skin rather than appearing faded or blue-toned. The placement across the head is particularly important, as this sets the character of the fish.

White areas are assessed for purity. Any yellowing or muddiness in the shiroji will only become more visible as the fish grows, so only koi with clean, consistent white are included.

Body conformation is selected to support development, with preference given to fish that will carry volume while maintaining the contrast that makes this variety so striking.
