Showa Koi for Sale
Showa are powerful black koi with red and white markings layered over the top. They’ve got a bold, dramatic look and often show more black as they age. If you like strong contrast and big impact, Showa are a top choice.
Selection is focused on underlying sumi quality and long-term development. We prioritise koi with strong, stable black that will continue to emerge and refine, rather than fish that peak early.
Hi and shiroji are assessed for how they sit against the sumi, ensuring the pattern holds together as the fish develops. Balance across the full body is key, particularly through the head and shoulder area.
Body conformation is a major factor, with preference given to koi that carry volume and have the frame to support growth.
