Yamatonishiki are eye-catching koi with a shiny metallic finish and a mix of white, red, and black. They’re like a metallic version of Sanke, and really stand out in the pond. If you’re after something bold with a bit of flash, Yamatonishiki are a great choice.
Selection focuses on maintaining balance between metallic quality and pattern clarity. The hikari (shine) must be strong and even across the body, enhancing the colours without washing them out.
Hi and sumi are assessed for stability and placement, ensuring the pattern remains clear under the reflective surface. Poor balance is more noticeable in metallic varieties, so only well-proportioned fish are included.
