A microscope glass slide is a thin flat piece of glass around 24 mm x 60 mm. Your mucus sample from the koi goes on to the glass slide and then the cover slip (around typically 22 mm x 22 mm x 1 mm thick), goes over the sample. The glass cover slips are used to hold the mucus sample in place for examination under a microscope.
Typically both the glass slide and cover slip are placed together under the microscope for viewing.
